Maydi Mushaad Frankincense (Boswellia Frereana) Somalia, 25 gr
The King of Frankincense - Boswellia frereana from the Cal Madow highlands of northern Somalia. Cream to beige opaque tears, drier and more linear than Hojari, with a clean pine-citrus character that holds its structure on charcoal.
The Material
Hand-tapped Boswellia frereana from the Cal Madow highlands of northern Somalia. The Mushaad grade gathers the cream to beige opaque tears - drier and lower in oil content than the Boswellia of Oman, with a more linear release. Khaleeji and Somali traditions call it the King of Frankincense.

Worth knowing
Boswellia frereana grows only on the limestone cliffs of the Cal Madow range in northern Somalia - nowhere else on earth. Harvesters climb sheer rock faces with hand tools to tap trees that have been worked by the same families for generations. Attempts to cultivate the species in Yemen and Kenya have failed.
This Product
Maydi is the frankincense the Khaleeji and Somali traditions have called the King for centuries - drier, sharper, more linear than the Boswellia of Oman. The chemistry comes from a cliff face in northern Somalia that produces nothing else like it.
Where Hojari opens citric and softens into balsam, Maydi opens with pine and clean lemon and holds that character all the way through the burn. The tears keep their structure on charcoal, charring lightly on the surface - a slower, more deliberate session than the softer Hojari grades.
The frankincense for the longer evening, the smaller gathering, the room held quiet. The grade Khaleeji households have always kept aside for the company that mattered.
This Resin, with its formula enriched with high quality extracts, your home relieves and makes you feel fresh with its pleasant smell.
